Pakistan Consulate sought for Amritsar

PAKISTAN, Lahore - Vaisakhi was celebrated Tuesday at Marhi Ranjeet Singh near Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) Administrator Brigadier Yasoob Ali Dogar (Retd) represented Lahorites in the colourful ceremony. Other attendees included World Muslim Sikh Federation Chairman, Sardar Man Mohan Singh, Vice Chairman, Dal Khalsa, Sardar Surinder Singh, and a large number of Sikh Yatrees currently visiting Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Brig. Yasoob said that Pakistan is a safe heaven for minorities as Muslims of Pakistan firmly believe in the principle of tolerance. He announced plans to improve facilities for Sikh Yatrees by next year.

S. Man Mohan Singh, while appreciating the arrangements made by the Government, asked for a Consulate of Pakistan to bed in Amritsar for the convenience of passengers seeking visas for travel to Pakistan.
