Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Dear Fellow Sikhs,
Given below is a petition to the President of the United States by 19
US congressmen on the issue of human rights in India. I am forwarding
this letter because I believe in the power of the pen. We have successfully
conducted cyber campaigns and I believe that we need to make our collective
voices heard.
We need to draw up a list of issues that needs our attention and begin
a campaign, much like the legendary Morchas of the past.
One issue that is very much close to my heart is to see justice done
on behalf of the victims of the 1984 Delhi massacre of Sikhs. We should
start creating public awareness of the atrocities that were committed
on those fateful days. We need to lobby governments, NGO's, the media,
on this issue. 2004 will be the 20th anniversary of the attack on the
Harmandir Sahib and the massacre of the Sikhs in Delhi and other parts
of India. I heard that there is a movie being made on the Delhi massacre.
So maybe an initial public awareness campaign can be coincided with the
release of the movie.
We have an online media (www.), a plethora of web sites, numerous
panthic-minded activists, enumerable online discussion groups, what more
do we need? A cohesive action plan. A strategy. A willingness to take
up a cause and fight for it.
Are we up to it? I am.
Gur Rakhaa.
Tejinder Singh
