The Kamalla Rose Kaur Column
Primate Power Games and High Caste Parties
Kamalla Rose Kaur Wed Jul 11

People flock to attend fancy up-scale parties;
which usually are extremely uninspiring events by definition
because we are seeking the company
of the silly social climbing masses
who flock to attend those sorts of parties.

Having privilege and status, and money mongering your way through life,
might be less stressful on your health than being poor and lowly of course,
yet the life of privilege is designed for no other purpose than
to serve our every high caste ego gratification and need!
Thus, where is the real satisfaction in a life of privilege,
if we do not surrender to GOD's Will
and seek out the company of the enlightened?
True satisfaction comes from Truthful Living,
not from playing endless Primate Power Games,
with souls lost in the hunt for money, sex, status and power.

Seek out the enlightened,
creative and kind people,
all types, from all cultures,
all backgrounds,
and gather with them.
Keep the company of the faithful
like our Guru suggests
and experience mere parties and social gatherings
transform into something much more important and profound.

Our Guru speaks all the time about how marvelous and important keeping the
company of the faithful is. The list of benefits flows and flows in countless
poems written by the Nanaks. For instance, here is just a few of the gifts
the practice of keeping the company of the enlightened blesses us with,
according to Guru Arjan:

"In the company of the faithful, the Imperceptible is perceived.
In the company of the faithful, life always bears fruit.
In the company of the faithful, the five passions are under control.
In the company of the faithful, we taste the immortal elixir.
In the company of the faithful, we are humble as the dust of everyone's feet.
In the company of the faithful, our speech becomes eloquent.
In the company of the faithful, we stop chasing to and fro.
In the company of the faithful, we gain serenity.
In the company of the faithful, we are not enticed by the visible world.
Says Nanak, when we join the faithful, the Divine is pleased."

- Sukhmani Section 7 verse 2
