Time To Ponder
Fri Aug 09, 2002

The recent loss of life of S. Sukhpal Singh is very painful for the entire Sikh Community in North America and, especially, for us in California. We hope that the culprits are punished according to the law. The sympathies of the entire Sikh Nation are with the bereaved family. Mr. Lakhwinder Singh, brother of S. Balbir Singh and S. Sukhpal Singh, is anguished but not revengeful.

On the other hand, we have some so called leaders of Sikhs in India who couldn't get justice for the killing of thousands of innocent Sikhs for the past 18 years, who have invited the killers of Sikhs to Gurdwaras and bestowed Siropas to them and who jump at every chance of a cheap publicity stunt by demonstrating in front of the US Embassy when ever there is this kind of a killing.

We, here in the USA, will appreciate demonstrations by our co-religionists anywhere in the world when there is real need for such action. Please do not trivialize this situation when all of us here feel very bad and all the public officials are trying their best to investigate the crime and bring the killer(s) to justice.

A. P. Singh
