Veer Sanjiwan Singhji mentions
Waheguru's love ('The
Guru Loves Us Despite Our Faults', Jan. 25). When we love our
Guru, we obey the Guru's "Hukam", that is part
of the Guru. When we love, we just love, don't segregate and separate
what we love and don't love in Guru.
Kaes is Guru's Hukam and we are knowingly rejecting
that part of the Guru. It is not for the Sangat to test you,
this is your issue. This is between Guru and you. But it is for
a Gurbhai, or Sangat, to say fearlessly and clearly
what is the Guru's "Hukam". Isn't that why we go
in Sangat, to correct our mistakes? How can we do that if
we are fixed in our views and want everyone else, including our
Guru, to fall in line with "what we think is right"?
Yes, Guru forgives, he allows us to atone for our mistakes. Not
obeying the Guru's Hukam is a mistake, isn't it? Or do we
expect Guru to change and for us to remain the way we are? I think
that is the opposite of how it should be.
Guru Raam Daas was tested by Guru Amardaas at Goindwal - he was
asked to make a "tharaa", a seating place. He did
it many times over and, although each time there was nothing wrong
with the construction, Guru Amardass asked for it to be made again
and again, pointing out faults which really were not there to be
seen. Guru Amardass, then Bhai Jetha ji, became Guru because he
did not allow reason and intellect to block his vision and love
for the Guru. That is our benchmark, our guiding principle.
I think the need is to follow and mend our ways, as per Guru's Hukam.
That will enhance our love for Waheguruji and reflect it within
us as well.
