The Kamalla Rose Kaur Column
All Is Peace
Kamalla Rose Kaur Thu Jul 12

O my Siri Guru Granth, my friend and advisor,
over and over You instruct me to remember the Infinite GOD.

We are living on a small planet
that is exactly the right distance
away from a minor star.
Were we any closer to the Sun,
it would be too hot for life, as we know it.
If we were any farther away from the Sun,
it would be too cold for life, as we know it.
What are the chances of another planet
somewhere, out there,
circling another star at just the right spot,
with the result that life, as we know it, is blossoming?
What are the chances that out there in infinite space
that life and consciousness aren't happening all the time?
And then there is life too, as we don't know it!
There is bound to be lots of that!

So given our insignificance
is humanity the crown of Creation
or simply a weird out-of-control pest,
or perhaps we are like a cancer on Earth!
Humans are over-running the planet
fouling the air and water.
And get a load of the thoughts that run through our heads!
Where do they come from?
How did little bags of skin, with egos,
come to develop the New York Stock Exchange,
or religion,
or the World Series?
And what does it mean,
and why does it matter,
in a Universe that is as vast as this one is?

Seen from up close,
only two or three galaxies away,
our Sun is not discernable.
Looking that closely,
viewed that intimately,
the whole Milky Way Galaxy,
is a small swirl hanging in space.

And here I am,
wondering how to pay my mortgage,
I am thinking I should exercise more,
and that I should lay off the coffee.
I seek comfort from my Guru,
hoping that he will assure me
that things are going to get better.
And my Guru tells me to remember GOD,
to meditate on the incomprehensible ONE BEING,
Creator/Creation,
the whole Universe
and beyond,
to hold the Name,
the experience of GOD awareness,
in my heart always.

The sky is so blue today,
over on this side of this little planet.
I watched the Sun dancing through thick greenery
with my neighbor's newborn baby,
and I was very grateful to GOD for the beauty
and peace and pleasure of the moment.

Without the Sun
I do not exist nor this innocent child in my arms.
Without the Sun, my body is terminated.
Yet blow up our Sun,
and the Galaxy barely hick-ups.

Two Galaxies over,
all is peaceful.

O my Siri Guru Granth, my friend and advisor,
over and over You instruct me to remember the Infinite GOD.
