The Kamalla Rose Kaur Column
Creating A Good Public Image
Kamalla Rose Kaur Tue Jul 03

There is nothing wrong with wealth.
On the contrary, I pray the Khalsa everywhere prospers!
But wearing a turban
and advertising your status and wealth at the same time
gives people a bad impression and a bad opinion of Sikhs.
So be careful to project the symbols of Sikhi
rather than the symbols of the High-Life.
Be discreet.

And even if you still have to have a drink,
don't be seen in a bar wearing a turban and drinking;
same with smoking, seek privacy.
Sikh public image is very important right now.
You don't have to be perfect or healed to HELP.
Just commit to NOT HINDERING the Sikh cause.
Be aware that people are curious
and that they watch you in that turban or in that chuni.

It would be great if all Sikhs
surrendered to the Guru
and got healed of all wounds by GRACE.
It makes everything easier
if you let GOD do the work of course,
but even if you are a totally secular Sikh,
please be loyal enough to Guru Nanak's vision
and the Khalsa cause,
to not let your bad habits be associated with Sikhi.
If you wear a turban
you are a Sikh publicist for better or worse.
Never forget that people are watching,
that they are curious,
and that the way you act
is how people will assume all Sikhs act.
