Banning books isn't solely the prerogative of the religious fundamentalists and the Nazis.

Try locating a copy of 'The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion' in your nearest library and you'll see what I mean.

Or, for that matter, try buying MeinKampf in any of the scores of stores of the largest book chains in Canada - Chapters and Indigo.

With that said, your most other observations are right on the mark.
